What to do in Cusco in enero
The editorial plan
Why Cusco in enero
January is the heart of the Andean rainy season: the Cusco valley turns emerald green and you'll see Machu Picchu wrapped in mist with only a handful of visitors.
On January 6th, the Bajada de Reyes closes the Andean Christmas with Masses and the dismantling of the Santurantikuy nativity scenes across the Sacred Valley.
It's one of the cheapest months: with half the crowds of June, hotels in San Blas and the trains to Aguas Calientes drop their rates.
Cusco is worth visiting other months too
