enero

On January 6 the Orszak Trzech Króli (Three Kings parade) winds down from Wawel to the Main Market Square with thousands in costume and three royal processions converging on the square.

febrero

Fat Thursday (Tłusty Czwartek, February 12 in 2026) fills the bakeries with pączki, the rose-jam-stuffed Polish doughnuts eaten by the dozen before Lent.

marzo

Misteria Paschalia, the Holy Week early-music festival, opens in late March (the 29th in 2026) with Bach passions and Baroque works in historic churches and halls.

On Easter Monday (April 6 in 2026) the Emaus fair takes over by the Premonstratensian convent in Salwator, with stalls of carved wooden toys and sweets.

mayo

Juwenalia takes over the city in mid-May: students are symbolically handed the keys to Kraków and parade in costume with concerts across the centre.

junio

On Wianki night (Midsummer, June 20–21) Kraków's women float flower wreaths down the Vistula below Wawel while the bank fills with concerts and fireworks.

The Jewish Culture Festival (July 1–5 in 2026) closes Kazimierz with the big open-air 'Shalom on Szeroka Street' concert, hours of klezmer into the small hours.

agosto

The Pierogi Festival takes over the Mały Rynek in mid-August: dozens of stalls compete for the best dumpling and the Golden Pierogi statuette is awarded.

octubre

Unsound (October 2–11 in 2026) turns the city into a lab of experimental and electronic music, with shows in hotels, bunkers and factories.

noviembre

On November 1, All Saints' Day, the Rakowicki Cemetery fills with thousands of znicze (grave lights) at dusk — a tide of light that's one of the year's most moving sights.

diciembre

On the first Thursday of December (the 3rd in 2026) the szopkarze carry their skyscraper nativity scenes to the Mickiewicz monument: the szopki contest, Kraków's unique UNESCO tradition.
