Why Krakow in junio

On Wianki night (Midsummer, June 20–21) Kraków's women float flower wreaths down the Vistula below Wawel while the bank fills with concerts and fireworks.

A week after Corpus Christi, the Lajkonik — a rider dressed as a Tatar — crosses the city from Zwierzyniec to the Rynek, tapping passers-by with his mace for luck.

The Great Dragon Parade sends huge articulated dragons onto the Vistula in front of Wawel, retelling the Kraków dragon legend with a night show over the river.

On January 6 the Orszak Trzech Króli (Three Kings parade) winds down from Wawel to the Main Market Square with thousands in costume and three royal processions converging on the square.

febrero

Fat Thursday (Tłusty Czwartek, February 12 in 2026) fills the bakeries with pączki, the rose-jam-stuffed Polish doughnuts eaten by the dozen before Lent.

On the first Thursday of December (the 3rd in 2026) the szopkarze carry their skyscraper nativity scenes to the Mickiewicz monument: the szopki contest, Kraków's unique UNESCO tradition.
